New Developments in BOPP Tape Industry: Patent Breakthroughs and Trade Challenges Coexist

2025-02-22

Recently, the BOPP tape industry has received two important news, one related to technological innovation and the other involving international trade.

at the international trade level, BOPP tape faces challenges. On January 31, 2025, the National Tariff Commission of Pakistan issued Case Announcement No. ADC66, making a preliminary positive anti-dumping determination on the roll of biaxially oriented polypropylene self-adhesive tape originating from China, and deciding to impose a temporary anti-dumping duty of 14.99% for a period of four months. However, tape rolls used only for Pakistan's export of raw materials and for foreign donation assistance and tariff exemption projects are not included in this list. Pakistan believes that the low-priced entry of BOPP tape exported from China into its market has had an impact on local producers. This anti-dumping measure is expected to have a certain impact on the business of Chinese companies exporting to Pakistan. We need to pay attention to the final ruling results and the response strategies of relevant companies in the future.

BOPP tape, as a commonly used material in packaging, construction, electrical and other fields, its technological innovation and changes in trade situation not only affect the development of enterprises in the industry, but also affect the supply chain costs and product innovation of many downstream industries.
